Focus:  Green Technology

The Environment is BIG.  Green technology is BIG.  Everybody is looking for ways to save our Earth.  As we started searching for information on this special report, we were astounded with how much people talk about it, and how little is really said.

One thing is clear.  If your company is focused on renewable technology or environmentally friendly products, there is funding available.  Lots of it.  All around the world.

Green Technology.Org  Here's a good listing of possible government funding and grant sources for green technology.

The Green Tech Blog provided evidence that solar technology has come of age, at least enough to go for an IPO.  We would expect that other green tech companies will focus on small business IPOs rather than run the gamut of Wall Street.

Green Tech Investment Roars on and on and on.  The scary part is that wasn't all that long ago that venture capitalists pursued dot-coms for dear life.  Now their fickle affection has turned green.

General Motors is funding green fuel.  The other auto makers are probably doing so as well.

While funding for green technology is actually a lot easier than funding for other types of businesses, there may still be challenges, especially with the economy slipping so badly.  Be sure to look at alternative types of financing on all fronts, from bootstrapping to venture loans.

This is also an area where there will continue to be millions upon millions of dollars of federal grant money.  The Department of Energy is the logical source, but there are probably others as well.

 Too Good to Miss

In a topic as volatile as green energy, getting up to date information is important.  For these topics I recommend strong, filtered websites.  One such is Trendwatch.  There are a number of others.  If you have a favorite, stick with it.

After working on your Alternative Energy Business Plan, you will need a bit of relaxation -- lol.  For you, and others, here's a great guide for starting a Golf Driving Range.  It's under $30.  Lots of great information.

Your Free Business Plan

We were unable to locate a free sample alternative energy business plan.  In truth, we couldn't even find one that was for sale.  This is not surprising considering the newness of the industry itself and the wide variance in project dynamic.  Just to see what's going on, check out

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Alternative Power Program Business Plan.  It's just a few pages of an outline, but it might help.

And here's one from Bulgaria.  (Don't laugh.  Bulgaria is really focusing on growing very successfully into the 21st century.)

Also, there are a number of business plans that have won contests lately.  Check with the sponsors and see if any of those are "public".  They may or may not be.

Other than that, your creativity is your best guide.

This isn't some kind of noble wish. It's not about being nice to the birds and the bunnies. This is a design protocol.
