Business Financing for Women

Bless the Wall Street Journal.  On its blog, The Deal, it reported how the mere presence of women on Boards of  Directors brought down the price of companies that were being purchased.  And, the more women there were, the lower the price went.

The Deal was reporting on a study done by three British Columbia School of Business professors.  They attributed this phenomenon to the fact that women are better shoppers.  I would like to take that one step further:  Women HAVE to be better shoppers.  Women still earn less than men, and are usually the ones with primary responsibility for children in divorces.  Without a very finely tuned shopping skill, civilization as we know it would be in even a worse muddle.

So, women:  If you are looking to buy a company, where to do you go for information and funding?

If you are looking for angel investment for your business, look to angel groups in your area.

If this business is setting you on the path of making a million, then go for it.  (This one is just for the ladies.)  Make Mine A Million is determined to make one million female millionaires in business.

The SBA also likes established businesses.  A solid history, with a solid plan for growth, suits them just fine.  Check out other funding options too.

When you draft your business plan, you might even sneak in a copy of the article from The Deal, just to remind them that you really got a good deal.
