Startup Business Stats
I used to cringe when people asked me
about stats for micro businesses like WAHMs and SOHOs. Or startup
businesses. The stats just weren't there. Anywhere.
Zilch. Zip. Nada.
Oh, joy! Caloo, Calay -- that is
now all changed.
So Why Use Stats At All If They
Are So Hard To Find?
I've used BizMiner for years, and highly recommend it to my visitors.
Briefly, BizMiner takes statistics from literally hundreds of thousands
of industries and gives averages for all manner of financial
information.
Numbers by themselves don't mean much. But if you put your own
company's financial statement numbers next to the average for your
industry, it becomes very important.
Sadly, for many years the BizMiner
reports were really only useful for larger, more established companies.
Small companies and startup companies just don't "fit" the parameters
for large companies, so we couldn't use BizMiner stats.
Well that has now all changed.
BizMiner now offers reports on STARTUPS and on MICRO
BUSINESSES. Hey, that's about 95% of the businesses in the
U.S., yours and mine likely included!
The range of statistics is the same.
You still get the full range of financial information, with common size
(percentage) calculations.
BizMiner doesn't have data for all of
its hundreds of thousands of industries for startups and micro
businesses, but it does have data for several thousand of them.
Even if you can't get an exact match for your business in the "startup"
section, look for something in the same general category. You will
come away with loads and loads of great information.
BizMiner reports are still about $69 --
one of the best bargains in the business world.
