WAHMs

"WAHM" used to mean "Work At Home Moms".  Now it is more likely to mean "Work At Home Moms and Dads".

It's true.  Thousands and thousands of people are choosing to work from home.  Some do it so they can be with their families.  Some do it to cut down on commuting and the myriad of frustrations of working for someone else.  Some do it because it is the best way they know of to use the skills they possess.

I'm often asked how long it takes to be a "success" with an online business.  The answer depends a great deal on what you consider "success" to be.  Is it success if you make a few hundred dollars a month?  or a few thousand?  or tens of thousands?

Compare it to a brick and mortar store.  How long would it take to make a brick and mortar store "successful"?  A few months?  A few years?  Certainly, that success would not come instantly.

All too often people look for instant success with online businesses.  They look to the Get Rich Quick gurus.  Trust me, there is no Magic Formula.  There is hard work.  There are great ideas (which usually come from you).  There's a strong learning curve, which true entrepreneurs truly enjoy. 

And WAHMs have the right idea.  There is no other business in the world where you can invest $300 to $1500, add some elbow grease (actually brain power), and make real money in a matter of a few months.  Working at it diligently, you will have your success within a year, maybe two. 

Check out the skills you may need, and get some great ideas too.  If you think you might be looking for some financing, check out Internet Business Startup.  Very often a microloan is all that is needed.  If you do need more sophisticated equipment, look to the SBA.

There are, in fact, very few businesses that cannot be operated from home.  Take an inventory of your interests and skills, and something is bound to come to mind.
