This data is often very difficult to locate. An excellent starting point is this listing of the Statistical Sites on the World Wide Web. This site is completely FREE. It was created by US Department of Labor. This is a simple but extremely useful list of links to sites where you can find the official statistics published by U.S. agencies(e.g., Bureau of Economic Analysis, Census Bureau, etc.) as well as by governments around the world, with sites ranging from Afghanistan's to Zambia's Central Statistics Offices. Official statistics typically cover national data like demographics, economic trends, trade, and so on.
