A business plan for an auto parts store rides beside the dreams of millions of auto owners.  It is absolutely astounding how far the industry has come in such a short time.    And best of all is that parts are needed for ALL cars, from the old jalopies to the newest electric gizmos.

The Strength In Your Auto Parts Business Plan

There are junk yards and clean as a whistle modern stores.  They, and everything in between, can indeed be very profitable.  Your strength as a business owner lies in two things:

  1. Finding a niche, and
  2. Expanding it as far as it will go.

Being able to catalog and trace your parts means that you can create an inventory that has real value.  Each individual part may not have much value, but cumulatively it can be substantial.  That is a key component to your auto parts business plan:  Being able to prove just what you've got.  This comes relatively easily to standard brick and mortar stores, but less so to open yards.

The other part of success rests with being able to expand your business as far as it will go, whether that is around the block or around the world.  For those with limited inventory, eBay may be an option for both buying and selling.  For those with more substantial inventories, create your own website and sell direct.

... or thousands of other options.  Figure out just what you've got, and you've probably got a fan in the banking business.  And don't be disappointed if your banker is a woman.  A surprising number of women truly appreciate cars, especially older ons.

OK.  Now you know what you've got.  Next:  Where do you want to go?

That sounds like an incredibly easy question, but it is a lot harder than it looks.  Why are you looking for financing?  "Working capital" doesn't cut it.  "Paying bills" is worse.  There must be a reason you are looking to EXPAND or GROW your business.  THAT is what you need to communicate in your business plan.
