When my girlfriend started her massage business, I suggested she hire a business plan writer. This type of business can really seem swarmy, so it seemed like a good idea to get a professional working on it. She paid $500 (we're in Idaho) and got a plan she submitted to the SBA. She did get some money but not as much as she had hoped for. I haven't looked at all the free business plans, but my feeling is that they aren't specific enough to work. I would really go with a professional writer.
