Could you please help me on how to go about it, especially on how to write a proposal for this non profit to presents to my donors & sponsors.

Answer
While non-profit proposals share many of the characteristics of a for-profit business plan, there are some significant differences. The biggest difference is that a non-profit agency serves a need within an underprivileged community. That need must be established strongly, with statistical input and analysis.
Once the need is established, then the specific program that you have must be presented to show that "this program meet the needs of this community".
Then get a solid grants software program and identify where the funding might come from. You will find such software at http://www.grants-1.com .
Sometimes it is easier to work it the other way around. Look first in the grants directory to identify possible sources of funding, then structure your proposal to meet those needs that are already identified by the granting agency.
Either way, it is not easy, especially in these hard economic times. Money is just hard to come by from every source. Give yourself time to do the research that is needed, and present yourself and your group as clearly and as strongly as possible. See http://www.businessplanmaster.com/free-government-grants.html for some ideas on how to proceed.
We wish you every success.
