There is a real knack to creating a comic book retail business plan. The first key is just to demonstrate your real joy with the topic. Rarely do bankers have the opportunity to review business proposals with images of comic heroes, so go ahead and use them.
The other key is to shine a light on your business skills as well. It is all fine and good that you want to invest $10,000 in acquiring a rare collection, but unless you have a track record that says you can buy low and sell high, there isn't much chance you can buy that collection.
Which brings us to another issue. In recent years I have only seen one comic book retail location in a brick and mortar store, and that was upstairs at the end of a very narrow staircase. Comic book collectors have found the internet in a big way. Not just eBay, but their own businesses, much like rare book shops.
If you don't need a traditional brick and mortar business, it is entirely possible that your comic book business plan will be for a line of credit, just enough cash to give you the flexibility to buy that big collection when you find it.
For line of credit financing, you will still need a solid business plan to spot light your business acumen. But it is well worth it. A decent line of credit can accomplish a great deal for your business.
We recommend that you look at the 7 Step Comic Book Business Plan. It is complete, and flexible.

Melli. "Like every kid, I dreamed of being Super Woman. Now I know how to make that dream come alive every single day. Wow, if only I had known ten years ago."
Heather Speakor "Sorry, Naste. I figured out I need more. Go figure. At any rate, I'm good to go."
Lolan (Leesburg, VA). "I used to advertise on eBay a lot. I did OK, but I felt like I was always competing with everyone else. Now, with my own store, I am building my own client base that I don't share with anyone. Now THAT's cool."
Josh Schmidt (S.Car.). " Good show. I think the other guys try to scare you into believing that you can't do it. But I know better now."
