I think you would be looking for an angel investor, rather than traditional business financing, for a project like this. Your job would be to convince the angel that:
(1) Your designs are superior and WILL SELL;
(2) You know the industry;
(3) You are respected in the design community;
(4) You can handle the financing, etc., etc.

In short, you would be doing very much what a full business plan would do. The BASIC BUSINESS PLAN is probably the best bet for you.
