| This is a well known business plan
program that includes a number of free business plan templates in the
program. The advantage to using
this program is that it is pretty easy to use (except for the
financials, which I found very cumbersome).
The disadvantage is that all business
plans come out looking and feeling pretty much the same. They
are all based on the same outline, and literally thousands of people
use that same outline. You need room for creativity and
uniqueness in your business proposal.
For those who need a basic plan, and
want to see some finished templates, it is a good option.

A WORD TO THE WISE
I do caution people that "free" is
not necessarily synonymous with "good". There is a place for free business
plans, and that is primarily to give you an idea of what one looks like.
Some can also give you ideas for your own formatting and your own language.
But, trust me, there are a lot
more bad free business plans than good ones.
And savvy business people know
that it has to go further than a free business plan template. Your efforts
at raising financing must demonstrate the creativity and leadership skills that
you possess. Without those skills, you simply won't have much of a chance
at funding at all. With them, the sky is the limit.
I mean it honestly when I say that
money is not an issue. It isn't. If the concept is true and the
management is in place, the money will be there -- no matter what. Use the
business plan to demonstrate that your concept is true, and that your management
skills will carry the business through any storm.
