I need an idea to get started on a business propasal

by terri

What would be the first step to writing a winning proposal? How many pages long does it have to be? Does it have to consist of a resume and a cover letter?
Editor Note: Terri has asked questions common to nearly every entrepreneur. While we encourage her to take a look throughout this site, your comments are welcome too, to help her focus on writing that winning proposal. What is the most important part? The biographical information? The financial information? The cover letter? the description of the product? Let us know what you think.

Beginning a business plan

Terri, usually the hardest thing to do is to figure out which lender or investor will likely give you money. So this is where to start.

How long it is, and how much information is included, is very dependent on which lender you are approaching. For instance, a loan for $10,000 from your local bank won't take a whole lot of paperwork. Just the basic information in a nice folder will do fine. But if you are looking for hundreds of thousands of dollars from an angel investment group, you will need a lot more paperwork.

I would think you would always want to include a resume and a cover letter. Also include some financial information, and some information about your product. Your banker should be able to help you with a lot of the paperwork, or at least tell you what you need.
