Your internet cafe business plan will work just dandy for a number of similar businesses, such as:
They all have so much potential. This is a business that can grow and evolve with your neighborhood, and expand into new neighborhoods.
The hardest part is probably just getting started.
Back in the dark ages, about a decade ago, an internet cafe was quite a novelty. Customers flocked to spots where they could sip cappuccino and log on. The biggest problem back then was shooing people away who weren't drinking enough coffee.
Well, the world has evolved, and online services are available lots of places, sometimes even in parks or on airplanes. The "internet" aspect of an internet cafe business plan has evolved too. Now there are other components to an internet cafe business plan that are equally important.
There are a gazillion different types of cafes. I would venture that each and every cafe really is unique unto itself. Each serves different items, at different prices, with different decor and stays open different hours. Some feature organic. Some feature fair trade. Some feature local products. Some pride themselves on their variety, or on low pricing.
So the first question is: What type of cafe is your cafe?

An internet cafe falls generally into the restaurant genre of business, and the failure rate for restaurants is among the very highest in the country. Lots and lots of people believe that if they can brew a good cup of coffee they can open a cafe.
Well, it just ain't so.
There is a lot of skill in creating a successful internet cafe business. For example, consider
... and lots more. Every issue that a full fledged restaurant might have, you might have.
The most important thing you can do to prepare for owning your own internet cafe is to simply learn the business. Try becoming an apprentice to an internet cafe owner in another town, one that is non competitive to you. Not only will you gain a lot of knowledge, but you will have a life long advisor and colleague.
It doesn't matter how much education you've go. If you don't know how to run a profitable small business, it won't do you any good.
A small internet cafe certainly does not need a full five year growth plan. But there is another type of planning that does need to happen: contingency planning. What kind of contingency? you ask. Well, there are several.
Leadership Contingency. As a small business, you are likely the President and Chief Janitor. That's fine. But what happens if something happens to you? Do you ever even get a day off, or a vacation? Where does your Number Two person come from?
Financial Contingency. We don't like the believe that the economy could tank even further, but it is possible. And if the worst happens, what is the plan for your business? Can you continue on? Can you down size? Can you even grow? It doesn't matter so much just what the plan is, as long as there is a plan.
A well run internet cafe business may be the springboard you need to really grow. Perhaps you can open at other locations in your area, or expand to new areas. If this is what you are working toward, the 7 Step Internet Cafe Business Plan is just the ticket:
