We've seen a slew of
internet cafes pop up all over the globe, and rejoiced that the merger of
the two business concepts enhanced the value of each.
Now there's a new twist
on this formula: placing that internet cafe inside a car wash.
No kidding.
Truthfully, it's very
logical. A customer goes to get a car wash and grabs a cup of
java. What's the next thing that savvy folk do? Check email,
stock quotes, find a restaurant for lunch. All the stuff that you do
online.
Customers do even more
of all that "stuff" when they need a wax or a detail.
So a crafty entrepreneur
in Gainesville, Texas, brought all three concepts under one roof, and
ended up winning the Small Business Administration's Young Entrepreneur of
the Year award for 2006 with his internet cafe car wash business
plan.
Jason Snuggs, the
proprietor behind Cappuccino Car Wash had one big surprise: the
number of customers he got. Instantly. He presently works with
15 employees, and is gearing up for expansion.
His advice to
aspiring business owners is simply to be determined.
“If you don’t
risk it, you’ll never know,” he said “... You just gotta go for
it.”
Snuggs himself was a
veteran entrepreneur by the time he was 20. Throughout college he
had a very successful auto detailing business.
At 24, Snuggs
approached a banker for financing to open a full-service, automated car
wash in the Gainesville, Texas, area. The banker referred him to the Small
Business Development Center for assistance in preparing his business plan.
After much research and thought, Snuggs submitted his plan requesting a
loan to open the internet cafe carwash business plan called Cappuccino
Carwash, Inc. His loan was quickly approved and Snuggs was in business.
Last year Snuggs
was ranked number one in the nation for “express detailing” and number
two for “ticket average,” according to a car wash industry report.
Snuggs didn't have
a single "new" idea in his very successful business. Rather, he merged three successful ideas into one.
