Research for Australia
While it may
be comfortable to think of Aussies as "down under folk", in truth
there's hardly a country in the world so modern. That is certainly
true of their research services.
Conducting marketing research for
Australia has taken on a whole new dimension. The
country has opened up its borders with
Australian
Libraries Online
.
Need to know the number of emu herds? The
acres of open land in any given area? The number of manufacturing concerns
in Sydney? Go to Australian Libraries Online and ASK THE LIBRARIAN.
This site has included the very popular
"Ask the Librarian" button. This is already used extensively
throughout the U.S. and Canada, and I suspect other parts of the world. I
am glad that Australia opted to use it.
As a professional librarian myself, I'm a
little snobbish on the topic. But there just ain't nuthin' like asking
someone who knows. Finding answers to questions is their job, their
passion. Your phone call (or email) sends them on a search through
volumes and stacks of resources most people can hardly imagine. And if
they can't find the answer, they ask and ask until someone can find the
answer.
National Library of Australia enables
anyone with an Internet connection to select from more than 40 million
items held in over 800 libraries across the nation, with books, journals,
newspapers, theses, pictures, music, manuscripts, maps and much more. Many
online resources such as digitized imaged and full text government
publications can be accessed immediately online.
Yee haw. It's always great news
when a treasure trove of information hits the world forum.
