By definition, a photography business plan focuses on those creative people in the business world, whether they are portrait photographers, nature photographers, corporate photographers or sports inclined.
About 90% of us wish we had your career ... until we discover the financial challenges you've faced. The advent of digital photography and incredible software programs for editing has made each of us feel like a professional photographer. But you know better. And that leads us to ....
Wouldn't it be great if you could just submit a bunch of images and say, Gee I need money so I can do more of these! In essence, that is what your business plan will do, but just not so easily.
More than with most business plans, yours needs to really establish your income streams. What exactly do you do? Who pays you? How long have you been doing this? What contracts do you have in hand?
Yes, include images. You would be remiss to leave them out entirely. But do focus - focus - focus on MARKETING.
In short, present yourself as the businessperson that you are, as well as the artist.
Remember, too, that "working capital" is not an option, especially in an artistic field that has few real assets. The financing that you are looking for must be for something real, something that will make your business grow, something that will ensure that the lender will get paid back. That is no small accomplishment.
