Most bankers pride themselves on being analytical rather than touchy-feely people. So while you present the cute doggie in the window, also demonstrate some creativity in presenting your financials. Here are a few ideas:
Map It. Create a map showing the physical distribution of your clients. This is immensely impressive when you have an online component too, and can show clients in Turkey and Australia and Latvia.
Chart It. Whenever logical, present a chart along with your pure numbers. Really demonstrate how a certain product line soars, or how sales jump every time you do a certain promotion. Visual aids demonstrate that you not only do the numbers, but that you understand them, one of the really useful retail business plan ideas.
Quote It. Don't do a whole lot of "assuming" in your business plan -- you know well what that makes of you and me. Find authority to back you up. Strong authority. Don't say "The market will increase 8% this year". That is very weak. Rather, say "The County Planning Department estimates an 8% increase in traffic to that shopping center during the coming year." If you found it in a publication, quote the source. If someone "told" you, quote that person by name and by title and by date.
Flaunt It. Whatever you've got that is really great, do tell about it. Bankers don't learn by osmosis; they need to be told.
