SBA Hispanic loans have never been
plentiful. As a demographic group, Hispanics have fared far worse than
most.
So, when I saw the announcement about the
SBA Hispanic agreement, I thought Wow!
Then I actually read it. The SBA,
through its district offices in the state, will:
* Make available information regarding the
SBA and its resource partners through pamphlets, brochures and other
publications.
* Provide information to CHCC staff on SBA
programs and services available to local small businesses.
* Provide speakers, consistent with SBA
rules and policies, to participate in CHCC workshops, conferences, seminars
and other activities to discuss SBA financing, government contracting and
other business topics.
* Provide a text-only hyperlink from SBA's
Web site to CHCC's Web site pursuant to SBA's linking policies.
Sooooo what???
Pamphlets? Speakers? Yuk.
How about access to capital? How about
bi-lingual SBA loan specialists? How about programs for linking new Hispanic
entrepreneurs with experienced businesspeople? How about identifying banks
that are eager for their business?
Good grief, people. This is the fastest
growing demographic group in the entire country. And all the SBA can offer
is pamphlets? Where are the real SBA Hispanic loans?
Go back to the drawing board, folks. And
don't waste paper on another announcement until you have something to
announce.
