How could I find a business plan for a software or a hardware company?

The question is more challenging than one would expect. We were unable to locate a ready made plan, either free or for sale, that we could recommend. Therefore, I would suggest that you go to http://www.bizminer.com/index.asp?aid=196, and in the Industry search box type in "software". You will get a whole list of software related industries, with full industry reports and financial summaries. Choose the ones most appropriate for your business and develop your plan around them.

For the computer hardware, also go to BizMiner. Look at the bottom of the page and you will see a link to "computer hardware", where you will find similar information on computer hardware industry and financial summaries.

It would also be helpful if you search on the industry that your software/hardware will benefit. If the industry is expanding, you have a much better chance of success yourself.

With all of this information in hand, you should be able to construct a reasonably good business plan. Good luck on your project!

There are some sample business plans about software and hardware companies in the 100s of Free Business Plans book. In fact, there's a whole section with nothing but computer related stuff. I bet you could find something there that would work for your company.
