Angels -- Busy, Busy, Busy
I nearly fumbled it.
I saw an announcement from Tech Coast Venture Network and almost posted
it here. My muddled mind said it was from Tech Coast Angels.
Well, it's not.
These are two very different groups.
The Tech Coast Venture Network is a private group led by consulting firms
that are hired to locate investment for companies. There's nothing wrong
with that -- it just isn't Tech Coast Angels.
Tech Coast Angels is a premier group of angel investors with clubs
throughout the country. Many millions of dollars
has been invested via Tech Coast Angels. It holds meetings frequently, with brief "fast
pitches" by entrepreneurs at these meetings.
Do check the website of Tech Coast
Angels. You will find a calendar of upcoming events that they are participating in. Join whichever
ones you can.
It is refreshing to see an angel group that
takes its involvement in the community as seriously as it takes its
investments.
Upcoming events included
- a growth capital conference
- "fast pitch" business plan competition
- networking groups
- university-based entrepreneurs conference
- industry conferences
- awards ceremonies
- and a couple of others.
It's an active group, and well worth your time.
