Denise and John, one of the hidden treasures of the web is a wonderful directory called "Thomas' Guide". This is an old company that used to publish huge green bound directories for thousands of different kinds of manufacturing. It lists those thousands and thousands of manufacturers online now, with an amazing searchable database. Try this link, then search and you should be able to find much of what you need.

I can't begin to count the number of start up business plans that Thomas' has helped. The sources are for both large and small companies, in more industries than anyone can count.

Wow! A new business line with your own products. This is truly a great idea. There are some basic things you will need to check, like your state's regulations on selling beauty products. And you will need to get pricing on the cost of ingredients and packaging. In the beginning, you might want to make as much of it yourself as you can. Find out what you clients like and don't like before going into major production. Staring with one product and building from there would be a good idea. I wouldn't worry too much about graphics and fancy packaging at the beginning. That part can be added as you go along.

Suraj, It is always difficult to get funding when you have no collateral. Because you are asking someone to invest so much money, it is all that more important to demonstrate that you are a true business person. A strong Salon Business Plan will help you establish that.

Then look to friends, and to people who can refer you to other people.

There may be someone that you can partner with who can invest money.

You may need to start very small, and let the business grow over time.

There may be a group like Kiva.org that can help you get started.
